Guildhall Sessions Branding & Events Marketing

A new brand for a historic Salisbury venue

As part of our ongoing work with the Salisbury Guildhall, we were tasked with creating a new brand for a series of live music events for all ages.

Following a consultancy with the in-house team and promoter, we then marketed these unique nights out to local music-lovers, re-positioning a famous Salisbury landmark as a must-visit live events destination.

The brief

Landon Marketing and Design have worked with Salisbury Guildhall for a number of years, so we were excited for the opportunity to create a new events-based brand for this historic location. Our brief was to create a name and identity for a series of live music nights, which could be repurposed for different events, genres and target markets in the coming years. It needed to feel like the Guildhall, but with a new twist.

 

Our creative solution

Using the name “Guildhall Sessions” as our starting point, we created a playful new logo design, transforming the recognisable pillars of the Guildhall building into a DJ’s turntable. This simple but effective design was then rolled out across the marketing campaign for the first two events. Despite two very different offerings – a club night for over 30s and a daytime disco celebrating the music of Taylor Swift – the bold new branding was transferable to two very different but equally eye-catching sets of design materials.

 

 

The campaign

As budgets were limited for this first iteration of the Guildhall Sessions, we launched the events with a local press release on the day of on-sale. We then supported this initial buzz with paid social media and and a local print marketing campaign, and boosted interest for the adults event through a partner competition with Salisbury Radio.

The result

Through our local campaigns, we were thrilled to see the Taylor Swift event sell out several weeks beforehand. The club night event also saw very strong ticket sales. Beyond these figures, the campaign also successfully repositioned the Guildhall as a must-visit live music venue for local gig-goers, laying strong foundations for further successful and well-attended events in the future.
